Small Business Initiative for Christian Brick Kiln Workers

The Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) emerged in Wuhan, Hubei province of  China, where a large number of patients presented with pneumonia of unknown etiology.  Later the disease spread nationwide and across the world between December 2019 to early  2020. The World Health Organization (WHO) announced the outbreak of the novel corona  virus disease as a public health emergency of international concern under the International  Health Regulations on January 30, 2020, and the disease was declared a pandemic on  March 11, 2020, affecting 169 countries and almost all continents.

Pakistan has been in the state of high alert since February 2020 when the first case was  notified in the country. Government and health professionals advised for preventive  measures to prevent the spread of the disease. These measures were later intensified with  the increasing number of cases and local transmission. The government implemented  complete lockdown, closure of businesses and restriction of movements, and working at  home to promote social distancing and curb the spread of disease. These precautionary  measures such as social distancing, staying at home, and lockdown may lead to  psychological and mental health problems.

As whole world has disturbed by the COVID-19. Developed countries were fighting  against COVID-19 financially and medical wise and fulfilling the basic needs of their  people. But underdeveloped countries had affected badly. Unfortunately Pakistan was one  of them. Every country had been forced to impose lockdown in their countries. Due to  lockdown policy unemployment, poverty and mental stress were increasing day by day in  human being, especially for those who worked on daily wages.

Thank God in most horrible COVID-19 circumstances, Peace Ambassadors took initiative by the help of Barnabas Fund to help the most deserving Christian brick kiln families by starting  their own businesses in different locations of Southern & Upper Punjab  Pakistan. This is a big task for the Peaec Ambassadors Society and Barnabas Fund to start the small business for Brick Kiln poor workers with local partners. Christian community is already in  minority and they don’t have proper resources. There are many needy Christian  people in our society who have the knowledge, skills & the ability to earn by  their own, but due to poverty or non-availability of investment or means of  earning, they cannot stand on their on foot to start their business setup. Such  people really need our support & little push up to get going with their earning  & all this very kind & generous financial support is coming just from the  Barnabas Fund who are always ready to help the most underprivileged &  neglected Christian workers & families throughout the world.

We appreciate the effort of Peace Ambassadors Society and Barnabas Fund who supported 25 Christian  families under the seven sub-sectors causes/ business items in the Upper &  South Punjab of Pakistan;
